New EV Launches in India Before 2027: Full List

Several new EVs are expected to launch before 2027. Maruti, Tata and Hyundai are preparing new electric models. Buyers can expect more SUVs, MPVs and longer driving ranges.

India's electric car market is set to grow rapidly over the next two years. After launching several new EVs recently, leading carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor Company are preparing a fresh lineup of electric SUVs and MPVs.

Here's a look at some of the biggest EV launches expected before 2027.

1. Maruti YMC Electric MPV

After introducing the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Maruti is now working on its second electric vehicle, codenamed YMC.

Unlike a traditional MPV, the new model is expected to get SUV-inspired styling with a bold front design and high seating position. It is likely to be offered with two battery pack options. The entry-level version could get a 49 kWh battery with a 142 hp motor, while the higher variant may use a 61 kWh battery producing 172 hp. The larger battery is expected to offer a driving range of around 500 km.

2. Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra EV will be one of Tata's biggest launches this year. The production version is set to debut on June 30, followed by a market launch expected in July.

The SUV is likely to be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. It is expected to offer a claimed driving range of up to 600 km along with features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging and an independent rear suspension.

3. Tata Safari EV

Later this year, Tata Motors is also expected to introduce the electric version of the Tata Safari.

The Safari EV is likely to share its battery pack, electric motors and feature list with the Tata Harrier EV. Since it is a larger SUV, the driving range may be slightly lower but is still expected to be around 600 km.

4. Hyundai HE1i Electric SUV

Hyundai Motor Company is preparing a new entry-level electric SUV, currently known by the codename HE1i. The model is expected to arrive in early 2027.

The SUV will feature a boxy design with pixel-inspired LED lighting and a completely new interior layout. Inside, it is expected to get a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster.

Hyundai is likely to offer two battery pack options using LFP battery cells sourced from Exide Energy. The larger battery pack is expected to deliver a claimed range of around 375–400 km.
