New Nissan “Baby Patrol” SUV Set for July 9 Unveil

Nissan’s new SUV is officially called the “Baby Patrol”. The Tekton will debut globally on 9 July in Mumbai. It will rival Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara and more.

Nissan Motor is all set to reveal its upcoming midsize SUV, the Tekton, on 9 July in Mumbai. The brand has now officially teased the model as the “Baby Patrol”, hinting at a strong design inspiration from its flagship SUV.

With this positioning, Nissan is clearly aiming to bring a more rugged and premium identity to its upcoming midsize SUV, which will compete in one of the most crowded segments in India.

“Baby Patrol” Teaser Reveals Strong Design Link

The latest teaser places the upcoming SUV alongside the full-size Nissan Patrol, making the design inspiration obvious. The Tekton carries a bold stance with a wide grille, upright proportions and horizontal lighting elements.

The front design also features a full-width light bar connected to the illuminated Nissan logo, while “TEKTON” lettering is placed prominently on the bonnet. The overall styling gives it a strong road presence, aligning with the “Baby Patrol” identity.

Rugged SUV Styling for Midsize Segment

Spy shots and earlier teasers suggest that the Tekton will follow a boxy SUV design theme. It is expected to get a flat roofline, squared wheel arches, thick body cladding and a muscular stance.

This design approach helps it stand out against rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Tata Sierra.

Feature List Expected

The production-spec Tekton is expected to come with a modern feature set including dual digital displays, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and connected car technology.

On the safety front, the SUV may offer six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera and ADAS features on higher trims.

Engine Options Likely Shared With Duster

Under the hood, the Tekton is expected to share its engine lineup with the new Renault Duster. Entry-level variants may come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing around 100 PS, paired with a manual gearbox.

Higher variants are likely to get a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with 163 PS and 280 Nm, offered with manual and DCT transmission options. A strong hybrid version is also expected later in the lifecycle.
