New Duster hybrid ARAI certified fuel economy is 29kmpl Bookings open at Rs 21000
Renault India will launch the much-awaited Duster hybrid in the country on October 17, 2026. Ahead of the launch, the company has released the official fuel efficiency figures. The Renault Duster Hybrid is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/litre, which makes it the most fuel efficient in the category. Its direct rivals, the Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid and Toyota Hyryder Hybrid offer a certified mileage of 27.97 kmpl. The Maruti Victoris Hybrid is claimed to offer a mileage of 28.65 kmpl.
| Model |
Mileage (ARAI) |
| Renault Duster Hybrid | 29 kmpl |
| Maruti Victoris | 28.65 kmpl |
| Grand Vitara / Toyota Hyryder | 27.97 kmpl |
Official bookings of the SUV are also commenced. Interested customers can book the Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 through the official Renault India website or at authorised Renault dealerships across the country by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000.
The new Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 features a strong-hybrid powertrain combining a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, delivering a combined output of 160 PS. An intelligent multi-mode transmission automatically manages the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions. The SUV can do its 80% of city driving on pure EV mode. The battery charges while the vehicle is being driven and does not require connection to an external charging source.
Commenting on the announcement, Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, said: “Bringing Renault’s proven E-Tech strong-hybrid technology from Europe to India is a significant moment for us. Indian SUV customers should not have to choose between performance and fuel efficiency. With a combined output of 160 PS and an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/litre, the Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 brings both together in a versatile SUV, without requiring external charging. For customers considering alternatives to diesel, it offers a compelling new choice for everyday driving. We are pleased to open bookings ahead of its official market debut.”
