Renault Duster Hybrid Set for October Launch, Bigster and Bridger to Follow
Renault Duster Hybrid price to be announced on October 17, 2026. Three-row Bigster/Boreal expected to follow the Duster in early 2027. Sub-4-metre Bridger will join Renault's India SUV line-up in 2027.
Renault is preparing to expand its SUV range in India with three new models by 2027. The new Duster Hybrid will be the first to arrive, with its price announcement scheduled for October 17, 2026. The Duster Hybrid will be followed by a larger three-row SUV, expected to be called the Bigster or Boreal, while the sub-4-metre Bridger is also planned for India in 2027. Renault is taking a multi-energy approach with its upcoming SUVs, with petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains expected to be offered across different models.
Duster Hybrid Coming This October
The new Duster will become Renault's first hybrid model in India. The company has confirmed that its Hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain will be introduced around Diwali 2026. The price of the Duster Hybrid will be announced on October 17. It will sit alongside the existing turbo-petrol versions of the SUV, giving the Duster a wider powertrain range. The Hybrid E-Tech 160 system combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery pack. Renault claims the system can operate in electric mode for around 80 per cent of typical driving conditions.

Bigster or Boreal to Follow
Renault's next major SUV for India will be a three-row model positioned above the Duster. While it is commonly referred to as the Bigster, the global version is also known as the Boreal. The final name for the Indian market has not yet been confirmed. The SUV is expected to arrive in early 2027 and is likely to get a hybrid powertrain. Reports suggest it could use the same 1.8-litre Hybrid E-Tech system as the Duster, along with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. At around 4.6 metres long, the upcoming SUV is expected to offer six- and seven-seat configurations. It will sit in the same broad segment as the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Carens Clavis.
Bridger Will Sit Below the Duster
The third SUV in Renault's upcoming India plan will be the Bridger. The sub-4-metre SUV was previewed by the Bridger concept and is expected to arrive in India in 2027. It will be positioned below the Duster and will enter one of the most competitive SUV segments in the Indian market. Renault has confirmed that its compact SUV programme will follow a multi-energy strategy. As a result, the production Bridger could be offered with petrol and hybrid powertrains, while an electric version could follow later.
Renault Plans a Wider Powertrain Strategy
Renault is not limiting its upcoming India portfolio to a single type of powertrain. The company is preparing petrol, hybrid and electric options across different SUV segments. The carmaker has said that its future Indian portfolio will expand to seven vehicles by 2030. The Duster, three-row SUV and Bridger will form an important part of this plan. India is also expected to play a role as a development and export hub for Renault's future models. With the Duster Hybrid arriving first, the company will then expand its SUV line-up with larger and smaller models over the following months.
