Next-Gen Hyundai Creta to debut with strong hybrid powertrain. Bigger SUV to offer SDV tech and premium features.
The third-generation Hyundai Creta is currently undergoing extensive testing ahead of its global debut in early 2027. The all-new SUV is expected to be unveiled at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Show in February, with its market launch likely to follow soon after. Several spy images have confirmed that the new 2027 Hyundai Creta will be larger and more spacious than the current model.
With comprehensive design changes and feature enhancements, the next-gen model will strengthen Hyundai’s position in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. However, the biggest highlight of the 2027 Hyundai Creta will be a new strong hybrid powertrain, which is reported to be based on the brand’s proven 1.5L petrol engine. The hybrid powertrain could be offered exclusively on the higher variants.
The next-gen Creta lineup will also be available with the existing three engine options including a 1.5L MPi petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel. The naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers a peak power of 113bhp and 144Nm. It’s claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 17.4kmpl with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 17.7kmpl with an iVT (intelligent variable transmission).
The 1.5L turbo GDi petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, produces a maximum power of 158bhp and 253Nm of torque. The 1.5L CRDi turbo diesel engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. The oil burner generates power worth 114.4bhp and 250Nm of torque, while promising a fuel efficiency of 21.8kmpl with manual transmission and 19.1kmpl with automatic gearbox.
Spy shots confirm that the 2027 Hyundai Creta will become the brand’s first Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) in India, featuring Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment system. The new software platform supports modular apps, Gleo AT and comprehensive OTA (over-the-air) software updates. Features such as ventilated rear seats and enhanced Level 2 ADAS with more autonomous functions might also be part of the package.
Similar to the new Kia Seltos, the third-gen Hyundai Creta will be underpinned by Hyundai-Kia’s new and safer K3 platform that’s compatible to multiple powertrains. The new architecture will also make the SUV longer, wider and more spacious than its predecessor.
