The big update is that the all new Compass will be the first Jeep to be based on the STLA M platform that underpins multiple SUVs such as the Peugeot 3008 / 5008 and Opel Grandland.
Stellantis, the parent brand for Jeep, Citroen, Peugeot and others, has shared the first teaser image of the next gen Jeep Compass SUV. Debuted in 2016 in Brazil, the second generation Compass has received multiple facelifts in its 7 years journey. The third generation Jeep Compass will make global debut sometime in 2025.
The teaser image reveals the side profile of the next-gen Jeep Compass, which shows a more premium and upmarket styling with more angular body panels. However, the front fascia will retain the familiar design. It will have a more upright front fascia, featuring a flat bonnet and upright nose. The SUV gets a flat roof instead of slightly tapered roof in the existing car.
The SUV comes with flared wheel arches with additional body cladding for rugged feel. There is a strong beltline that runs across the side and merges nicely to the wrap-around tail-lamps. The SUV has blacked-out D-pillars and quarter glass surround, which gives roof a floating effect. The next gen Jeep Compass has shorter rear overhang that merges nicely with big rear bumper. It gets horizontally-stacked tail-lamps in squarish shape are placed right below the rear glass area.
The big update is that the all new Compass will be the first Jeep to be based on the STLA M platform that underpins multiple SUVs such as the Peugeot 3008 / 5008 and Opel Grandland. In fact, the next-gen Citroen C5 Aircross will also be based on this platform.
The new STLA M architecture is versatile enough to accommodate different powertrain options include ICE, mild & plug-in hybrids, and electric. Moreover, Stellantis has confirmed that the new Compass will retain its off-road capabilities. In a press release, the global giant said, "the new Jeep Compass will be available in a variety of propulsion options from fully electric to hybrid to internal combustion, bringing customers affordable Jeep capability, best-in-class performance and state-of-the-art technology no matter which powertrain they choose."
The bad news is that the next-gen Jeep Compass won't be introduced in the Indian market. The current model will continue to be sold in our market until 2026. Jeep could introduce the next-gen Compass for India on the existing platform or could use Citroen's CMP modular architecture for a similar sized SUV.
Moreover, Jeep is also developing an all-new compact SUV which will be based on the CMP modular platform. This SUV is expected to be launched in our market sometime in late 2026 or 2027.
The new Jeep Compass will first debut in Europe with production starting in Melfi, Italy in 2025. The production of the SUV will commence in North America and other countries around the world will begin in 2026.
