Renault Bridger Set for Official Reveal - Leaked Images Show Rugged Design

Renault is set to unveil its new compact SUV, the Renault Bridger, later today. Ahead of the official launch, patent images of the SUV have surfaced online, giving us a clear look at its final production design. The leaked images confirm the rugged and boxy styling hinted at in earlier teasers. Bridger is expected to sit below the Renault Duster in Renault’s global lineup, targeting buyers looking for a lifestyle-oriented compact SUV.

Boxy, Rugged Exterior

The patent images show a tall, upright SUV profile with squared-off proportions and a rugged stance. One of the most noticeable design features is the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, giving it an off-road-inspired look.

The rear profile appears strong and utilitarian with vertical tail lamps and a clean tailgate design. Other exterior highlights include a flat roofline with roof rails, blacked-out pillars with contrast roof, squared wheel arches with thick cladding, chunky bumpers with skid-plate styling, and large multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Front Styling Inspired by Renault Design Language

The front fascia of the Renault Bridger features a bold grille flanked by rectangular LED headlamps with distinctive lighting signatures. The front bumper is chunky with strong horizontal lines and an integrated skid plate, giving the SUV a mini-Defender-like stance. This design emphasizes Bridger’s rugged, lifestyle-oriented positioning.

Platform and Engine Expectations

The Bridger is expected to use a modified CMF-A+ platform, currently used by models like the Renault Kiger. Renault may position it as a more rugged alternative to Kiger, offering buyers stronger SUV styling and better off-road capability.

Powertrain options are likely to include a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, producing around 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission options could include both manual and automatic, with lower variants offered in front-wheel drive and select variants potentially featuring four-wheel drive, making it one of the few compact SUVs in India with such an option.

Made in India for Global Markets

The Bridger will be manufactured in India and is expected to be exported to markets such as Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Once launched, it will compete in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, going up against rivals like the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, especially if Renault introduces four-wheel-drive variants.
