The much-awaited Skoda Octavia Rs has finally been launched at a price tag of Rs 49.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Skoda had opened bookings for the Octavia RS on October 6, and all 100 fully imported units are already booked.
The Skoda Octavia RS has no direct rivals in the market. In terms of pricing, the VW Golf GTI is its closed challenger. When it comes to performance, the Czech performance sedan is closer to the BMW M340i and the Audi S5 Sportback.
Powering the Skoda Octavia RS is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Golf GTI. This engine churns out 265hp and 370Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 6.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250kmph. The Octavia RS comes with a sports exhaust system as standard. However, the sedan misses out on the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) that tweaks the suspension damping and steering system to offer improved drivability.
The new Octavia RS comes equipped with sportier bumpers, RS badging, and a lip spoiler. It rides on 19-inch aero optimised alloy wheels. The performance sedan is available in 5 exterior colours, including Magic Black, Mamba Green, Candy White, Race Blue and Velvet Red.
The Skoda Octavia RS comes with an all-black interior scheme with contrasting red stitching. There are sports seats and a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel. The sedan gets a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 11-speaker Canton sound system. Other features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, heated and powered front seats with massage function, 10 airbags, ADAS tech, a triple-zone climate control, etc.
