Tata has launched CNG variants of its best-selling SUVs, the Tata Nexon CNG and the Tata Punch CNG. While the Nexon is bigger and offers more premium features, the Punch is a compact and very price-sensitive one. This comparison of two models enables you to compare prices, specifications, and features in order to decide which one comes closest to your needs.

Rs. 7.23 lakh to Rs. 9.90 lakh |
The Tata Nexon CNG is available in eight trims: Smart (O), Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, and Fearless+ PS. These versions start at Rs. 8.99 lakh and go up to Rs 14.59 lakh; therefore, it offers the maximum availability of trims as per the different requirements and budget constraints.
Tata Punch CNG comes in five Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, and Accomplished Dazzle S variants. The ex-showroom prices of Punch CNG vary between Rs. 7.23 lakh to Rs. 9.90 lakh. Punch CNG is cheaper on all counts.
Whereas, by price, Punch CNG is most surely within the pocket of a frugal buyer. Nexon CNG, though, carries plenty of premium features in its purse and sells at a premium.

So the Tata Nexon CNG comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, which churns out 99bhp and 170Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The CNG tank uses twin-cylinder technology, which is neat and pretty well incorporated within the boot, so when the boot space is opened, it reveals a very practical 321-litre boot space in the Nexon CNG. So while being potent as a performer, the Nexon would then indeed be a great package.
Tata Punch CNG is available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 72.49bhp and 103Nm of torque. It is available in twin-cylinder CNG technology, and much like the Nexon, it has been slated to be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
First-in-segment features endow the Tata Nexon CNG. It's the class's largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, more specifically. There is also a 10.25-inch digital driver's display inside. The humbled premium features don't go this far: voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, touch-based climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and an 8-speaker sound system. It also claims to be safe with six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a 360-degree camera, and hill hold control.
In contrast, Tata Punch CNG offers the current day features, such as a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, although no panoramic sunroof is provided as in the Nexon. Inside its kits of safety provisions, it has equipped dual airbags for the front, rear parking cameras, and rear parking sensors. Though some major advanced features are missed, there is no 360-degree camera for sure, some of the features are not available, like Nexon, and multiple airbags are also not included.
Although the Punch CNG has everything it requires, the Nexon CNG offers much more, so if you are looking for a premium driving experience, this one is probably your better bet.
The choice between Tata Nexon CNG and Tata Punch CNG would depend entirely on what you value most. That is, in case you want a very affordable, compact CNG, ideal for city use, you would expect good value for money with the Punch CNG. In case you prefer a more powerful engine, many advanced features, and a higher safety rating, of course at a premium price, then the Nexon CNG. The Nexon makes for an excellent premium feature-packed SUV, and Punch is the best for the budget-conscious buyer who needs something practical and city-friendly.
