Tata Sierra ICE to launch in Q1, 2026 It will debut the brand's new 1.5L NA petrol engine The diesel version likely to get 2.0L turbo unit The Sierra will also get a 170hp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV during this year’s festive season, before Diwali. However, its ICE derivative will only arrive in the first quarter of 2026. Tata Motors is currently testing the new Sierra on different roads and weather. The big update is that the Tata Sierra ICE will come with 3 engine options, including two petrol and 1 diesel.

The upcoming Sierra ICE is reportedly to debut two new petrol engines, including a 1.5-liitre, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. The 1.5L NA engine will be offered on the lower-spec variants, which will allow Tata to price the Sierra competitively in the market.
The turbo petrol engine is the same unit that debuted at the Auto Expo alongside the 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo unit. This 4-cylinder turbo petrol unit is claimed to produce 170hp and 280Nm of torque; however, the final model could deliver different states of power.
This engine will first introduce in the Harrier and Safari in November 2025; however, Tata Motors is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The turbo petrol engine is expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option. The entry-level 1.5L NA petrol engine is likely to be offered with a manual gearbox only. Tata could offer the DCT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option to target wider audience.
The diesel version is likely to get the 2.0-litre turbo unit that powers the Safari and Harrier. In the current form, this engine produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque. However, Tata Motors acquired the license to manufacture and tweak this engine to suit different types of vehicles. The Sierra could get a slightly de-tuned version of this engine. Moreover, Tata could also add the 1.5L turbo diesel engine in the entry-level trims of the Sierra. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The new Sierra will measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length, which will make it a direct rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. Featuring boxy design, the new Tata Sierra appears bigger than the competition and offers massive road presence. It has a flat nose, rugged bumper, boxy silhouette and relatively flat rear profile.
It will come with a triple screen dashboard that adorns an infotainment unit, a digital instrument console and a co-occupant’s entertainment screen. In terms of features, the Tata Sierra will have an auto dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, Heads-Up Display (HUD), JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos and ventilated and powered front seats. The SUV will get multiple airbags, LEVEL 2 ADAS, ESP, TPMS, hill launch and descent control and others for safety.
