Tata Motors is preparing to launch 3 new cars including the Harrier EV, Altroz facelift and the Sierra in the country in 2025. The Harrier EV is reportedly to be launched around April-May 2025, while the Altroz facelift could arrive by mid-2025. Tata Sierra will be the next big launch from the homegrown automaker, which is expected to arrive during festive season.
Tata Motors is yet to make an official announcement on the launch date of the new Sierra. It is expected that the new Sierra ICE and Sierra EV will be launched simultaneously in the end of 2025, most probably around Diwali. Tata could follow Curvv's strategy of launching EV first, followed by ICE version. However, our sources reveal that the launch of both versions could take place at the same time.
The Tata Sierra will be the next model to come with both ICE and EV powertrains. The ICE version will be offered with both petrol and diesel fuel options. Moreover, the Sierra will mark the debut of Tata's new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which will also power the Tata Safari and Harrier. The oil burner will be the same 2.0-litre Kryotech unit that currently powers the Harrier/Safari.
The new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing 168bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. It is likely to come with two gearbox options - a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel engine is good for 167bhp and 350Nm of torque, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Tata could also offer the 4x4 drivetrain system with the ICE-powered Sierra; however, official announcement is yet to be made.
The Tata Sierra EV is likely to share its battery specs with the Harrier EV, which is reportedly to get a 75kWh unit with dual-motor, AWD setup. Tata could also add a smaller 60kWh battery pack with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor as standard. It is likely to offer a range of around 500km+ on a full charge.
