The Indian auto industry is witnessing a significant shift, with the SUV segment in dominant position. While the homegrown automakers are reinventing their iconic models, global players are bringing new tech with their SUVs. Here is a list of top 20 most awaited upcoming SUVs in India in the next 1 year -

Hyundai will launch the second generation Venue sub-4 meter SUV in November 2025. The new model will come with significant design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. Its styling will be inspired by bigger Hyundai SUVs, including Palisade, Alcazar and Creta. The cabin will have all-new design with parts sharing with Creta SUV.
The next-gen Hyundai Venue will be based on the modified version of the existing platform. Moreover, the SUV will offer more space in the second-row compared to the current model. It is likely to get sliding and reclining function for the second-row seats. Other features could include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and second-row seats, front parking sensors and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. The SUV is likely to retain its powertrain options.
MG Motor India will launch the new Majestor 3-row premium SUV in India before the end of this financial year. Likely to be retailed through MG Select dealerships, the new Majestor will rival the Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming VW Tayron. It will be powered by a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 218bhp and 480Nm of torque. The SUV is likely to get on-demand four-wheel drive with selectable drive modes, and an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric SUV, the e Vitara in India in the first half of 2026. The SUV’s production has already been commenced at Suzuki’s Gujarat based plant for the global markets. It is based on an all-new scalable platform which also underpins the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. The electric SUV will be offered with two battery choices - 48.9kWh and 61.1kWh - with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The higher-spec model will offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge.
Toyota’s version of the e Vitara, called the Urban Cruiser EV will arrive in our market in 2026. The SUV will have its unique design, but the battery specs and features will be shared with the Suzuki e Vitara. The electric SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6.
Tata Motors will launch the long-awaited Sierra EV in the country during festive season 2025. The new model will be based on Tata’s new Acti.ev+ architecture that also underpins the Curvv EV. It will be offered with a triple screen dashboard, a 4-seater lounge variant and an AWD setup. It is expected to share the battery packs with the Tata Harrier EV. Expect the top-end model to deliver a range of up to 500km on a single charge.
The ICE-powered Tata Sierra will be launched in the first quarter of 2026. It will be offered with both petrol and diesel fuel options. The SUV measures around 4.3 meters in length and will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV. The SUV will mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.5L NA petrol engine. Other engine options include a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel.
The homegrown automaker, Mahindra will launch the XEV 7e, a 7-seater electric SUV in the first quarter of 2026. The new SUV will be the third model to be based on Mahindra’s scalable platform, called the INGLO. It will share the battery choices with the XEV 9e and BE 6; however, the XEV 7e will have a dual-motor AWD set-up.
The long-awaited Renault Duster will finally launch in our market before the end of this financial year, most probably in January 2026. The SUV will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin a new 7-seater SUV. It will be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. Hybrid version will join the line-up at a later stage.
Hyundai will launch an all-new crossover to rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx in India. It is likely to be based on the Bayon crossover on sale in the European markets. The crossover is likely to be offered with multiple engine choices, including a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine.
Nissan will launch its own version of the Duster SUV in India by mid-2026. Rumoured to be called the Nissan Kait, the C-segment SUV design will be inspired by Nissan Patrol SUV. It will share the platform and engine choices with the Renault Duster.
Kia will launch its second mass-market electric vehicle in India in 2026. It will be an electric derivative of the Kia Syros, and the SUV has been caught multiple times in Korea. The small SUV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV. It is likely to share the battery options with the Carens Clavis EV.
Kia will launch the second generation Seltos SUV in India in the first half of 2026. The SUV will come with an all-new design inspired by the bigger Telluride. It will initially come with ICE powertrains, including a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. The SUV will also come with a hybrid engine, but this version is scheduled to arrive in 2027.
Volkswagen will launch its new 7-seater SUV, called the VW Tayron before the end of this financial year. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm of torque, and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It will come with a standard AWD set-up. Likely to be assembled locally, the new Tayron will challenge the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kushaq.
BYD will launch its new global SUV, the Atto 2 in the country in 2026. The SUV has been caught testing a couple of times in India. It will be positioned against the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and others. The SUV gets a 45kWh battery pack and offers a WLTP-claimed range of 463km on a single charge.
After launching the VF6 and VF7 at an aggressive price tag, VinFast will launch its locally developed EVs in 2026. The company will launch its smallest SUV, the VinFast VF3, which will challenge the MG Comet EV. It will be manufactured at the company’s Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu. The global model is packed with an 18.64kWh battery with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor rated at 41PS and offers 110Nm. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 215km on a single charge.
Renault will launch a new 7-seater SUV based on the Boreal SUV in India during festive season, 2026. The SUV will be based on the CMF-B modular platform and will rival the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. It will be powered by a 1.3L turbocharged direct injection petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The SUV will also get a hybrid powertrain at a later stage.
Honda will launch its first electric vehicle, an all-new SUV in India in 2026. It will be an India-specific electric SUV, which will also be exported to select international markets. The new Honda e-SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and others in the segment.
Toyota will launch the new Land Cruiser Prado in the Indian market in 2026. The SUV will be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the diesel engine produces 204hp and 500Nm of torque.
Mahindra will launch the electric derivative of the XUV 3XO in the first half of 2026. The SUV has already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It will come as a replacement for the XUV400, which failed to bring numbers for the homegrown automaker. The EV is likely to be offered with a small 35kWh battery pack.
Mahindra will launch the BE Rall-E concept based electric SUV in early 2026. It will be marketed as a multi-terrain electric SUV. The SUV comes with aggressive front and rear bumpers along with prominent wheel arches and a roof carrier. It will get chunkier tyres. The SUV is likely to be fitted with a 79kWh battery pack with dual-motor AWD set-up.
