Volkswagen is preparing to launch 3 new cars, including facelifts of existing products and an all-new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. These models have already been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. VW’s popular Taigun will receive a mid-life update in 2026, while the Virtus facelift could launch in late 2026 or early 2027. Before these facelifts, VW will launch the Tayron 7-seater premium SUV in India.
It is basically the 7-seater version of the Tiguan. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 204PS and 320Nm of torque, and is paired to a 7-speed DCT. It comes with a standard AWD set-up. VW could assemble the Tayron in India, and is likely to be priced around Rs 50-55 lakh.
The styling of the Tayron is similar to the 5-seater Tiguan R-Line. It features a dual-pod projector LED headlights connected via a sleek light bar, an aggressive bumper, a large grille with diamond-shaped air intake channels, 19-inch dual-tone alloys and connected LED tail-lights.
In terms of features, the VW Tayron has a 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, HUD, an 8-speaker sound system, powered front seats with massage and ventilation function, and lumbar support, and 3-zone climate control. Safety tech includes 9 airbags, LEVEL 2 ADAS, a 360-degree surround view camera with blind spot monitoring and others.
Volkswagen’s mid-sized SUV, Taigun will receive a mid-life upgrade before the end of this financial year. The SUV will receive cosmetic design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. The spy images reveal that the SUV could get a revised front fascia, featuring a revised grille, new bumper with reworked air dam and fog lamp housing, and a slightly updated headlamp set-up with LED DRLs.
The SUV will come with LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others. VW could also offer a panoramic sunroof option. It will continue to be offered with the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic with 1.0L unit, and a 7-speed DSG with the 1.5L unit.
Volkswagen will launch the Virtus facelift before the end of next financial year. It will receive a significantly revised front fascia and more features inside the cabin. The sedan is expected to get panoramic sunroof, as the current model is available with a single-pane sunroof. The sedan will also get the LEVEL 2 ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, rear cross traffic alert, auto high beam and others.
The VW Virtus sedan will continue to be offered with the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and the 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engines. While the former is good for 115hp and 178Nm, the 1.5 TSI unit produces 150hp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic with 1.0L unit, and a 7-speed DSG with the 1.5L unit.
