New Hilux launching on July 28, 2026 Nissan Tekton arriving on July 9 Kia Syros EV, Sorento hybrid and others to arrive this month
The Indian SUV market is heading into an absolute frenzy this month. For SUV buyers, July 2026 is set to be the most action-packed month of the year. Six major models - ranging from mass-market EVs to premium strong hybrids - are locked for their official debuts or commercial launches.
Here is your correct timeline for the six massive SUV events dropping in our market over the next 4 weeks.

Nissan is all set to reveal its baby Patrol, the Tekton SUV in the Indian market on 9th July 2026. It will be based on the same CMF-B modular platform, also called the RGMP, that underpins the new-gen Renault Duster. The SUV shares the body panels and features with the Renault Duster; however, it will carry the Nissan’s identity. Design of the new SUV is inspired by the Nissan Patrol.
Similar to the Renault Duster, the upcoming Nissan Tekton is expected to be offered with a 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and a 163bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine. Transmissions on offer will include a 6-speed manual (standard) and a 6-speed DCT (available only on the 1.3L petrol variants).

JSW MG Motor India will introduce its first plug-in hybrid vehicle, likely to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 on July 16, 2026. The new midsize SUV will come with both PHEV and electric powertrains. It is likely to come with 7-seat configurations and measure longer than the XUV 7XO. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.5L petrol engine, an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. It offers a combined power and torque output of 194bhp and 230Nm, respectively. The SUV offers a pure electric range of 100km and a total range of 1100km.

Kia has officially released a teaser revealing its two upcoming SUVs with hybrid and electric powertrains for the Indian market. Likely to be revealed by the end of July 2026, the electric and hybrid SUVs are likely to be the Kia Syros EV and the Sorento 7-seater. Both have been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The Kia Syros EV will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 7XO, While the Sorento 7-seat hybrid SUV will rival the top-spec Mahindra XUV 7XO.
The Kia Syros EV is expected to be offered with two battery options - a 42kWh Standard Range and a 49kWh Long Range. Both are paired to a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Kia would be aiming to offer a realistic range of around 350-400km on a single charge. The India-spec Sorento is reportedly to get a 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain, which will also power the Kia Seltos hybrid and the next-gen Hyundai Creta.

The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup will finally launch in India on July 28, 2026. It is now a premium, tech-heavy model; however, it retains the body-on-frame chassis. The new Hilux is powered by a tried & tested 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine paired to a 48V mild-hybrid electrical system. The hybrid setup offers a peak power and torque output of 201bhp and 500Nm, respectively. A six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox comes as a standard. Power is transmitted through a 4WD layout equipped with an Electronic Differential Lock, Active Traction Control, and Toyota’s new Multi-Terrain Select with a live 360-degree Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM).

Honda will announce the prices of the new ZR-V hybrid SUV in the country before the end of July 2026. The new hybrid SUV will come as a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) model. We expect the new Honda ZR-V to price somewhere around Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom. At this price tag, the new ZR-V hybrid will come as an alternative to the likes of the VW Tiguan R-Line, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
It is powered by the same 2.0-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine that also powers the international-spec model. This engine is capable of producing 180hp and a peak torque of 240Nm, and is paired to an e-CVT. The SUV is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 22.90kmpl.
