Land Cruiser 250 Updated – New Features, Same Powerful Engines

Land Cruiser 250 gets new tech updates Advanced safety and anti-theft added Engines remain unchanged

Toyota has introduced new updates for the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 in Japan.

The SUV, which was launched in 2024 as a replacement for the Prado, now gets new features, improved safety, and updated colour options.

Prices now start at JPY 5,779,400 (around Rs 33.68 lakh), which is slightly higher than before.

What’s New on the Outside

The overall design remains largely unchanged.

However, Toyota has added a retro touch for enthusiasts. The VX variant now gets round Bi-Beam LED headlamps, which were earlier limited to the First Edition model.

Other variants continue with rectangular LED headlamps.

New colour options have also been introduced, including Neutral Black and a new sand shade. Existing colours like Platinum White Pearl Mica and Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic continue.

More Comfort and Advanced Tech Inside

Inside the cabin, the Land Cruiser 250 now offers more comfort and technology.

Both front seats are now electrically adjustable and come with a memory function.

The VX variant gets Toyota’s advanced driver assistance system with features like traffic jam assist, lane change assist, and forward cross-traffic alert.

It also includes an emergency steering assist and a driver monitoring system for added safety.

Strong Focus on Anti-Theft Features

Toyota has improved the anti-theft system significantly.

This comes as the Land Cruiser 250 is currently one of the most stolen vehicles in Japan.

New features include a key proximity detection system that prevents the engine from starting without the key nearby.

There is also a remote engine lock feature, allowing owners to disable the vehicle using connected tech.

Engine Options Remain the Same

The updated Land Cruiser 250 continues with the same engine options.

It gets a 2.7-litre petrol engine producing 163 PS and 246 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

There is also a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 204 PS and 500 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

All variants come with full-time 4WD and off-road systems like Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control.

Diesel Update Coming Later

It is important to note that most of the new updates are currently available with petrol variants.

Diesel variants are expected to receive these updates later, likely after December 2026.
