Three new mass-market SUVs launching in the next two months. The Sierra and Syros will soon get electric versions in India.
The past six months were headlined by several product launches from carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Tata, Mahindra, Renault and more. The next two months will keep the momentum going with new models set to arrive, especially in the mass-market SUV segment.
The much-awaited Tata Sierra EV will go on sale on June 30, while Nissan India is set to unveil the Tekton (rebadged version of the Renault Duster) on July 9, 2026. Kia India will further expand its electrified range with the launch of the Syros EV in August, 2026. Here’s a closer look at the key details of these upcoming SUVs.

Official teasers reveal that the upcoming Nissan Tekton SUV derives design inspiration from the brand’s global flagship Patrol SUV. It will feature a wide Patrol-like grille with two chrome strips, LED headlamps and dual-tone front bumper. However, the side profile will look largely similar to the Duster with pronounced wheel arches and black trim on front doors and rear door handles. Other highlights will include newly-designed alloy wheels, connected LED taillamps, a roof mounted spoiler, dual-tone rear bumper and a single-tone tailgate.
The Nissan Tekton will share its powertrains, features and components with the Renault Duster. This means, it will come with the 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 163bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine options. A hybrid variant, based on the Duster hybrid powertrain, might also join the lineup at a later stage.

Within the company’s product lineup, the Tata Sierra EV will sit between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Based on the Acti.ev+ platform, the electric SUV might share its powertrain with the Harrier EV, which is currently available with 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options. Tata has already confirmed that the Sierra EV will be available with both RWD and AWD drivetrain options.
Unlike its ICE counterpart, the Sierra EV will feature a blanked-off grille, revised front and rear bumpers, differently designed aero-optimized alloy wheels and ‘.ev’ badging. Inside, it might get some EV-specific software updates, while retaining the cabin layout and features.

Similar to the ICE-powered Syros, the Kia Syros EV will be designed on the K1 platform and retain its tallboy stance. However, it might get a newly-designed grille, a charging flap on the front fender and, distinctive alloy wheels. The electric SUV could be offered with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionalities.
Official powertrain specifications are yet to be revealed. According to reports, the Kia Syros EV might borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs from the Hyundai Inster EV, which is currently on sale in select global markets.
