From the facelifts of existing models to the 0 Alpha electric SUV and a much-needed three-row SUV, Honda’s upcoming product strategy is a clear signal that they are ready to reclaim their premium crown. Honda Cars India will launch the City facelift and ZR-V hybrid SUV in the country on May 22, 2026. The new City facelift will come with cosmetic design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. On the other hand, the Honda ZR-V hybrid will be introduced as a fully imported CBU model. It is estimated to be priced around Rs 40-45 lakh, and will take on the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tayron and others. The ZR-V will get a 2.0L strong hybrid engine with an estimated fuel efficiency of around 22-23kmpl.
Honda is planning to introduce the Prelude two-door coupe in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). The Prelude uses a strong hybrid system, which is similar to the one offered on the Honda Civic e:HEV. The hybrid system comprises a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a small battery pack. The petrol engine produces 139hp and 182Nm, while the electric motor adds 181hp and 315Nm.

Honda has officially started testing its upcoming mid-size electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept in India. To be produced at the Tapukara production plant in Rajasthan, the 0 Alpha EV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. The new model will be the most advanced and feature-loaded Honda car in the Indian market. It will come with modern tech, featuring the brand’s new infotainment unit, digital driver’s display and connected car tech.
Honda Cars India will give a mild-update to its only SUV, the Elevate. The updated model will receive subtle design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. It is expected that the SUV could also get a strong hybrid engine, which is the same powertrain that powers the Honda City e:HEV. It is an Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine paired with two electric motors, and a small battery pack. One electric motor works as an electric generator, while the other motor is for propulsion.
Honda is also working on an all-new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. It will rival the likes of the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO. The Japanese carmaker is developing a new global platform, codenamed PF2 to manufacture small and medium range cars. The new PF2 platform will be hybrid ready from day one and will come with a heavily localised hybrid powertrain. It is likely to get a new 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a small battery pack.
Honda is also preparing the next-gen City sedan, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2028. Moreover, the company is also developing a new sub-4 meter SUV. Both models will be based on the new PF2 modular platform. These models are expected to feature the next-gen 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with two electric motors nd a small battery pack.
