Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker, is preparing a wide range of new cars for the Indian market. The company will soon introduce the e Vitara and a 7-seater Grand Vitara along with the hybrid version of the Fronx crossover. What's interesting is that the e Vitara will be the first Maruti Suzuki car to offer ADAS in India.
Not just e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is planning to add ADAS in some of its affordable cars including the Swift, Dzire and Fronx. The new age Maruti Suzuki Dzire has received over 5-star safety rating from car buyers in India. It seems like MSIL is aiming at higher crash test results for its other affordable cars in India.
Maruti Suzuki is testing the new Swift with ADAS on the Indian roads. Not just ADAS, the hatchback was caught testing with a hybrid powertrain. MSIL is also preparing the Fronx facelift, which is likely to be the first model to feature in-house developed Hybrid powertrain. The crossover will get the Swift's 1.2L 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, paired with a 1.5kWh to 2kWh battery and an electric motor.
The 1.2L petrol engine will work as a generator and will charge the battery, while electric motor will drive the wheels. If reports are to be believed, the Fronx facelift will return a mileage of over 35 km/l. This hybrid system will be introduced across Maruti Suzuki's mass-market cars, including the Baleno, Swift, and Brezza.
It is expected that the affordable Maruti cars will come with Level 1 ADAS system with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others. Honda Amaze is currently the most affordable car with ADAS in India. Maruti Suzuki would aim to further improve sales by offering highly efficient hybrid engines and ADAS tech in its affordable cars.
