It is no secret that Jeep is readying the next generations of the Renegade and Compass SUVs, which are scheduled to be launched by 2027. What's big is that Jeep India could introduce the new gen Renegade SUV in the Indian market. We reported earlier that the next-gen Jeep Compass won't be introduced in our market, as it will be based on a more premium STLA platform.

The all-new Jeep Renegade will be designed and developed on the CMP (Common Modular Platform) that underpins the Citroen C3, C3 Aircross and the upcoming Basalt. This could be the low-cost version of the SUV and could be launched with a different nameplate. We believe that Jeep will use the same name, as it is already popular globally.
It was speculated that the new Renegade will be built on the group's STLA Small platform. However, the company is looking at an affordable CMP architecture to develop the new SUV. In fact, the Citroen C3 for Europe is also based on the same architecture.
The all-new Jeep Renegade will also receive an electric derivative, which will cost under USD 25,000 (approx. Rs 20.8 lakh). The CMP platform would allow Jeep to achieve low-cost for the electric SUV. Following the Jeep's tradition, the next-gen Renegade EV will have a 4x4 variant. The SUV will come with electric motors on both axles, offering 4x4 drivetrain.
The ICE platform is also expected to be significantly tweaked to support a 4x4 drivetrain. Sharing a common platform will allow Jeep and Citroen to further reduce the prices of components like powertrain, suspension setup and others. The low-cost platform will allow Jeep to price its new SUV under Rs 15 lakh. It is expected that the brand's E/E architecture will be upgraded to support some tech features like ADAS.
The new Jeep Renegade is expected to feature Stellantis 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine instead of Citroen's 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The report claims that the SUV will receive the new EP6DT 1.6-litre, direct-injection, turbo petrol engine that is developed jointly by BMW and PSA. This engine is tuned to offer different power outputs. The next-gen Renegade is likely to use the 150hp engine. The top-spec model could also receive an 180bhp engine.
