• BYD ATTO 3 is segments first born electric SUV in the segment • Features level-2 autonomous driving capabilities • Deliveries set to start from January 2023
Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled its all-new BYD ATTO 3 electric SUV. This is the second offering from the company in India following the e6 MPV. Once launched the ATTO 3 mid-size electric SUV will take on the likes of the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV Max and the Hyundai Kona EV in the country.

The BYD ATTO 3 features an edgy and sleek design. At the front, the full-LED headlights are connected by a chrome horizontal strip and vertical air intakes. The side profile is livened up by the silver garnish on the C-pillar and dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear end of the electric SUV gets sleek-looking LED taillights that are connected by a chrome strip just like at the front.

Moving to the interior, the BYD ATTO 3 gets dual-tone upholstery finished in grey and blue. The cabin is dominated by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. As standard, the ATTO 3 gets an 8-speaker audio setup, fully digital instrument console, 360-degree parking camera, powered front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

The ATTO 3 is also the first EV in its segment to feature ADAS tech, thanks to its suite of camera and radar systems. It comes with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, a blind spot monitoring system, front collision warning, lane keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
BYD has launched the ATTO 3 in India with a single battery pack option. The 60.5 kWh battery pack returns an ARAI claimed range of 521 kilometres on a full charge. The powertrain unit offers ultra-fast charging of 0-80 percent in under 50 minutes. With a regular AC adapter, it takes the ATTO 3 10 hours to fully charge up.

The battery in the ATTO 3 powers a single front-mounted electric motor that makes 200 bhp and 310 Nm. The automaker claims that the electric SUV can complete the 0 – 100 kmph sprint in just 7.3 seconds.
The Chinese automaker will be selling the ATTO 3 in only a single variant, albeit it comes with all the bells and whistles. While BYD has not revealed the price for the EV, it has started taking bookings at Rs 50,000, with cancellation charges capped at Rs 25,000. The company further stated that prices of the ATTO 3 will be declared next month, with deliveries starting from January 2023. Upon launch, it will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric, and the Tata Nexon EV Max.
