The Chinese automaker, BYD is all set to launch a new eMax 7 in the Indian market. This fully electric MPV was first introduced in 2022 as a commercial vehicle in India. Later, the automaker made it available for private buyers at Rs 29.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
After receiving a good response from Indian customers, BYD is now planning to launch its facelift version in October 2024, which will be renamed eMax 7. It should be noted that the e6 facelift is already on sale in the international market as an M6 electric MPV.
From the outside, BYD eMax 7 will have similar body styling as the outgoing model, but with some design tweaks. It will feature redesigned LED headlights and new front grille, inspired by BYD Atto 3. Besides, the electric MPV will get fresh alloy wheels and revamped LED taillights.
Inside, it is expected to come in both 6-seater and 7-seater layouts while the current model is available in 5-seater only. There will be a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the 10.1-inch unit offered in the current model. Other feature enhancements might include a wireless phone charger, a redesigned centre console with two wireless charging pads, a panoramic glass roof, a new drive selector lever, a new switchgear, and more.
The safety kit will include a 360-degree camera, an all-wheel disc brake, 6 airbags, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Besides, the Level 2 ADAS kit comprises Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic High Beam, Lane Centring Assist, and more will also be made available in the MPV.
The current BYD e6 model in India comes with a 71.7 kWh battery pack. For the eMax 7, we can expect the same battery unit to be on offer. It offers a claimed range of 415 km. However, for the upcoming model, the range might be increased by up to 8 km.
The existing BYD e6 is priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). While the facelift model is expected to get a slight price.
