BYD Denza D9 India launch by November 2026. It will be positioned between the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. The electric executive MPV offers a range of up to 600 km.
BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle maker, is readying its plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the SEAL U for the Indian market. A new media report claims that the Chinese brand is set to introduce its luxury brand DENZA in India. The Denza D9 executive MPV will be the first model from the DENZA luxury brand in India. The report further claims that the launch could take place as early as Diwali 2026. If there is a delay, the debut could take place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in February 2027.
At the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, BYD will showcase a wide range of DENZA models. The Denza D9 will be positioned between the MG M9 and the Toyota Vellfire in the luxury MPV segment. While the M9 is priced at Rs 79.95 lakh, the Toyota Vellfire is tagged at Rs 1.20 crore. We expect the new Denza D9 executive MPV could be priced somewhere around Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

In the global markets, the Denza D9 is available with electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It is expected that the electric derivative of the executive MPV will be introduced in our market, as EVs attract 5 per cent GST while the PHEV attracts 28 per cent GST.
In terms of proportions, the D9 is 5250mm in length, 1960mm in width and 1920mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3110mm. The MPV has a luggage carrying capacity of 410-litres, which can be extended up to 2310-litres by folding the rear seats. It is packed with a 103.36 kWh BYD Blade (LFP) battery pack paired with 308 hp, front-mounted electric motor offering 360 Nm of torque. The electric MPV is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 9.5 seconds. It is claimed to offer a pure electric range of up to 600 km (NEDC) on a single charge.
BYD will initially introduce Denza models as completely built units (CBUs). The Chinese automaker could also set up dedicated Denza outlets rather than sell the models through BYD India retail network.
