Automakers in India have released their sales numbers for the month of May 2025. Most of the brands posted positive sales growth in the market. Mahindra achieved a YoY sales growth of 18 percent, while MG Motor India posted a growth of 21% in June 2025.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has sold a total of 167,993 units in June 2025 as against 179,228 units in the same month last year. The company has reported a year-on-year sales decline of 6.3 percent.
In the domestic market, MSIL dispatched a total of 118,906 vehicles in June 2025 as against 137,160 units in the same month last year - reporting a YoY sales decline of 13.3 percent.
Total domestic sales (PVs + LCV + Sales to OEMs) dropped by 12.2 per cent to 130,151 units in June 2025 from 148,195 units in the same month last year.
The brand’s mini and compact car sales (Alto, S-Presso, Swift, Baleno, and WagonR) dropped to 60,591 units last month as compared to 73,444 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY decline of 17.5 percent.
Sales to other OEMs stood at 8,812 units in June 2025 as against 8,277 units in the same month last year, registering a YoY sales growth of 6.5%.
Maruti Suzuki’s export grew by 21.9% to 37,842 units in June 2025 from 31,033 units in the same month last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra has reported an impressive year-on-year sales growth of 18 per cent in June 2025. The company dispatched a total of 47,306 units to dealerships last month. Adding to it, Mahindra exported 1,023 vehicles in June 2025.
Commenting on the sales, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M said, “In June, we achieved SUV sales of 47,306 units, a growth of 18%, and total vehicles sales of 78,969 units, a 14% growth compared to the same month last year. The quarter ended on a very positive note for us, making the highest quarter ever for SUVs.”
Mahindra sold 2,979 electric vehicles in June 2025, capturing 22.9% market share. The company is currently selling 3 EVs - the BE 6, XEV 9e and XUV 400. In comparison, Tata Motors sold 4,650 EVs and has a market share of 35.78%. On the other hand, JSW MG Motor India is at second position with 3,945 EVs sold in June. MG currently has a market share of 30% in the electric vehicle segment. Hyundai sold a total of 509 electric vehicles in June with 3.9% market share.
Tata Motors has reported a massive sales decline of 14.8 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle category. The homegrown automaker dispatched 37,083 vehicles in June 2025 compared to 43,524 units in the same month last year. On monthly basis, Tata Motors registered a 10.77 percent decline in sales. In May 2025, the company sold a total of 41,557 vehicles.
Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.said, “In Q1 FY26, the Passenger Vehicle industry experienced volume pressures, particularly in May and June, with flat growth reflecting continued softness in demand. The Electric Vehicle segment emerged a bright spot, driven by robust growth and the launch of new EV models across OEMs, enhancing customer interest and consideration.
Kia Cars India sold a total of 20,625 vehicles in June 2025 as against 21,300 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales decline of 3.17 percent. The brand’s MoM sales declined by 7.57%, as it sold 22,315 units in May 2025.
In the first half of 2025, Kia India sold a total of 142,139 vehicles in India and registered an impressive year-on-year sales growth of 12.7 percent. In the same period last year, the company sold 126,137 vehicles in the country.
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India said, “The first half of 2025 has been encouraging for Kia India. Marked by steady growth despite industry-wide operational challenges, the response to our recently launched products, like the Carens Clavis has been great.”
JSW MG Motor India has sold a total of 5829 vehicles in the month of June 2025. The company has reported an impressive year-on-year sales growth of 21 percent.
The Windsor EV has played an important role in MG Motor’s positive sales in the Indian market. The company aims to further strengthen its position by introducing two premium electric vehicles. MG Motor has confirmed that its first luxury offering n India - the MG M9 Presidential Limousine will soon go on sale in India. After M9, the company will launch the Cyberster electric sportswear in the country. Both models will be sold through new luxury sales channel - MG Select.
Toyota has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 5 percent in the month of June 2025. The company sold a total of 28,869 units last month as against 27,474 units in June 2024. In the domestic market, Toyota sold 26,453 vehicles last month. The company has also exported 2,416 vehicles.
In the first half of 2025 (January-June 2025), Toyota sold a total of 174,885 units as compared to 150,250 units in the same month last year. The company reported an impressive growth of 16 percent.
Commenting on the sales, Varinder Wadhwa, VP, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said, ““TKM sales in the month of June 2025 was 5% higher than that of June 2024. We continue to strongly engage with our customers through after sales service support offerings and value-added offerings that are aimed at enriching their ownership experience at every step. As we move through the rest of the year, we will remain agile and focused on what our customers want and continue to serve the market effectively.”
Skoda Auto India has recorded its highest-ever half-yearly sales in the country. The company retailed 36,194 vehicles in the first half of 2025. The Skoda Kylaq played an important role in achieving strong sales. The company has expanded its network from 120 touchpoint in 2021 to over 295 today. The company aims to increase its sales touchpoint to 350 by end of 2025.
