Buoyed by positive response for the new BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra is planning to launch two new electric SUVs in the Indian market. In fact, the company has confirmed that two new electric SUVs will be launched in Q1, 2026. Adding to it, lower battery pack variants of the existing BE6 and XEV 9e are also under development.
In a bid to further boost sales, the homegrown UV maker will introduce the upgraded versions of the existing ICE models, including XUV700 and Thar 3-door. In fact, both SUVs have already been caught testing showing significant design and interior changes.
While Mahindra is yet to reveal the name of the two upcoming electric SUVs, we believe that the new EVs could be the long-awaited XEV 7e and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Mahindra could also introduce the BE Rall-E concept based rugged electric SUV, as the prototype has already been caught testing multiple times on the roads.
It is expected that he new Mahindra XEV 7e electric SUV will share the battery packs with the XEV 9e and BE 6. The electric SUV is likely to come with the two battery pack options - a 59kWh and a 79kWh - borrowed from the XEV 9e.
While the Mahindra XEV 9e is a rear-wheel-drive electric SUV Coupe, the Mahindra XEV 7e is most likely to come with a dual-motor AWD set-up. It is expected that the new electric XEV 7e will offer a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will come as a more practical 3-row electric SUV with both 6 and 7-seat layout. Mahindra could also offer a 5-seater derivative of the electric SUV, which will be positioned against the newly launched Tata Harrier EV. Tata Motors is also working on an electric Safari, which is expected to be launched in 2026. The Safari EV will have a direct competition from the Mahindra XEV 7e.
In terms of features, the Mahindra 7-seater electric SUV will come with the triple screen displays, VIsionX HUD, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. For safety and security, the electric SUV will have LEVEL 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and others.
