Struggling to gain momentum in India, Citroen has announced its new 2.0 strategy for the Indian market. The company will be introducing updated versions of all its cars and has started teasing them on its social media platform. Citroen has also confirmed a new model, called the Citroen Basalt X that has been teased multiple times on social media platforms.
While Citroen has not revealed the complete product, the Basalt X is likely to be the new top-end version of the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV. This will be a new trim joining the Basalt line-up. Under the new Citroen 2.0 - ‘Shift Into the New’ growth plan, the company aims to add new features to its existing line-up, improve customer engagement and increase its dealer network across India.
Citroen will introduce the Basalt X on September 5, 2025. Adding to it, the company will present its new 2.0 revamp roadmap plan for the Indian market. Interested customers can pre-book the Basalt X coupe SUV online or at authorised Citroen dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
As per the teasers, it is confirmed that the Citroen Basalt X will be equipped with cruise control, engine start/stop button and dashboard with leatherette finish. It is expected these features could be offered on other Citroen cars, including the Aircross. We expect the new Basalt X to get a 360-degree surround view camera. On the outside, the coupe SUV could get new alloy wheels, new sportier colour enhancements and new badging and detailings.
The Citroen coupe SUV will come with LED projector headlamps, LED tail-lights and diamond cut alloys. It is expected to get a traditional Citroen grille, flared wheel arches, and a rugged body cladding. The Coupe SUV sports a heavily raked windshield and a sloping roofline.
In terms of features, the Citroen Basalt X will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 7-inch colour TFT digital cluster, automatic climate control and wireless phone charger. For passenger’s safety and security, the Coupe SUV will have 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, ESP (electronic stability program), tyre pressure monitoring system and others. It is early to comment whether the Coupe SUV will have an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
The Citroen Basalt X will be offered with the same 1.2L NA petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engines that power the standard car. The former is good for 81bhp and 115Nm, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The turbocharged petrol engine churns out 109bhp and up to 205Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
