Citroen is gearing up to launch a new variant of its Basalt SUV in India. Called the Basalt X, this upcoming model will bring fresh design elements and feature upgrades over the standard version. Pre-bookings are now open at Citroen dealerships and on the brand’s official website for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
Citroen has released teaser images that highlight some of the new touches inside the Basalt X. The SUV is likely to feature a new dashboard imprint pattern with bronze accents. The AC vents may also get a similar treatment. Another teaser hints at a dual-tone black and tan upholstery, giving the cabin a premium look.

Like the C3 X, the Basalt X could bring in more convenience and safety features. These may include keyless entry, push-button start/stop, a 360-degree camera, and new colour options, including a stylish Garnet red shade. Positioned as a top-end variant, the Basalt X will likely offer a richer equipment list compared to the current trims.
Under the hood, the Basalt X will continue with the familiar 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 110hp and up to 205Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the manual version delivers 190Nm. No mechanical changes are expected, but the X trim will come at a premium of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 over the current top variant.
The official launch of the Citroen Basalt X is expected soon. With bookings already open, the SUV could be introduced in the coming weeks, adding a refreshed option to Citroen’s India lineup.
