Hyundai India has just updated the Hyundai Alcazar 2024 with a host of new features and design updates to this fast-selling SUV. Just about its introduction, it seems like the fire of intense competition at the hands of established rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari is burning the Alcazar. We are comparing prices and main specification details for these three models to help buyers make up their minds on which of these SUVs offers better value.

The Hyundai Alcazar facelift launched at an introductory price of Rs 14.99 lakh for turbo-petrol and Rs 15.99 lakh for the diesel variant, going all the way up to Rs 21.55 lakh for the top-of-the-line variant. All prices are ex-showroom. And for these competitive prices, the carmaker has fitted the car with all the latest updates and features.
However, the Mahindra XUV700 has a wider price bracket, starting at Rs 13.99 lakh to going all the way up to Rs 26.99 lakh, ex-showroom. It is offered in five trims: MX, AX3, AX5, AX7, and AX7 L, with a total of 30 variants.
The Tata Safari is priced at Rs 16.19 lakh to Rs 27.34 lakh (ex-showroom). It gives a good mix of features and options, with as many as 29 variants.

The Hyundai Alcazar comes with two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 158bhp and 253Nm of torque, while the diesel is a 1.5-litre engine developing 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol unit can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox, while the diesel comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Overall, the Alcazar measures 4560mm in length, 1800mm in width, and 1710mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2760mm. Boot space is claimed to be 180-litres.
The Mahindra XUV700 comes with more potent mills - 2.0-litre turbo-petrol units belting out 197hp and 380Nm of torque. Its diesel engine options begin with a 2.2-litre unit that makes either 152hp/360Nm or 182hp/420Nm, the higher-spec variant makes a peak torque of 450Nm. The XUV700 gets either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. For dimensions, the SUV measures 4695mm in length, 1890mm in width, and 1755mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750mm. It has a boot space of 240-litres.
The Tata Safari carries a 2.0-litre diesel engine, good for 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with Economy, City, and Sport driving modes. The Safari stretches 4668mm in length, 1922mm in width, 1795mm in height, with a 2741mm wheelbase. It is the one with the biggest boot, at 420-litres.
