Hyundai's new compact EV has been spotted testing again. It is expected to offer over 500 km range with the larger battery. ADAS, a 12.3-inch screen and fast charging could be on offer.
Hyundai is preparing to strengthen its electric vehicle lineup in India with a new compact SUV that has been spotted testing several times. Expected to be positioned below the Creta Electric, the upcoming model is likely to become the brand's most affordable electric SUV. The new EV is expected to arrive by the end of 2026 or in early 2027. It could offer a claimed driving range of more than 500 km, along with modern technology and a long list of features.
Hyundai's upcoming compact EV is expected to share several components with the recently revealed Kia Syros EV. If that happens, the SUV could be available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs. The larger battery is expected to deliver a claimed range of over 500 km, while the smaller battery could offer a range of around 440 km, depending on the final specifications. Higher variants are also expected to support DC fast charging, making long-distance travel more convenient.

Spy images suggest Hyundai is giving the SUV its own identity instead of simply converting an existing petrol model into an electric vehicle. The test vehicle features a tall stance similar to a compact SUV and carries styling cues seen on Hyundai's global EVs. Visible highlights include split LED lighting, flush-fitting door handles, roof rails, a roof-mounted spoiler, aerodynamic alloy wheels and vertical rear reflectors.
While the interior has not been officially revealed, the compact EV is expected to come with a premium cabin. Top variants could feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, connected car technology and over-the-air software updates. Other expected features include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
Hyundai is also likely to offer a strong safety package with the new EV. Higher variants are expected to come with Level 2 ADAS, along with six airbags, electronic stability control, battery thermal management, regenerative braking and connected charging functions.
Once launched, Hyundai's new compact electric SUV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and the Kia Syros EV. With a claimed range of over 500 km, two battery pack options and several premium features, Hyundai's upcoming compact EV could become an important product in the fast-growing electric SUV segment in India.
