Ford launched an off-road spec Tremor variant of the third-generation Everest in Australia. The upgrades make it more capable than the already-on-sale standard Everest in Down Under. Before options, Ford demands 76,590 AUD (Rs. 46.94 lakh) for the off-roader.
Visual upgrades come in the form of the signature Tremor grille with factory-fitted auxiliary LED lights, front tow hooks and a steel bash plate. Based on the Ranger pickup, the Everest Tremor comes with Bilstein's position-sensitive dampers and new springs.
The 17-inch alloy wheels hold on to General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain tyres, providing greater grip and stability. Ford claims a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms. There is a Rough Terrain Pack add-on featuring an auxiliary switch bank, ARB stealth bar and under-vehicle armour.
Everest sold abroad gets a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford's latest SYNC software. Next to it sits a 12.4-inch digital driver's display, while other features are likely to include multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an ADAS suite and nine airbags.
Under the hood lies the same 3-litre V6 diesel mill with 247 bhp and 600 Nm on the tap. All that output is directed to the four-wheel-drive system via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Tremor also adds Rock Crawl Drive Mode to the incumbent six on and off-road drive modes, to help master every terrain. We don’t expect this variant to hit Indian shores.
Ford will reportedly bring the Everest to India via CBU, with manufacturing starting in late 2025 or 2026. Considering high import duties, it is likely to be priced in a similar price bracket as the Toyota Fortuner.
