Kia Motors India is gearing up to introduce another addition to its model lineup. A few months ago, the company filed a trademark for the name 'Kia Clavis' in India. In fact, the vehicle was spotted testing multiple times in international locations. But now, the new compact SUV was seen undergoing testing on Indian roads. Expect its launch in the second half of 2024, around the festive season.
The latest spy images reveal a fully camouflaged test model. It boasted a boxy shape characterized by a flat roofline, roof rails, and tall pillars alongside flat front & rear ends. Additionally, the test vehicle is observed sporting dual-tone alloy wheels with a machine-cut finish.
As for its features, the Clavis is expected to offer a range of amenities. These include a large touchscreen for an infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and, among others.
Kia Clavis is expected to be powered by two petrol engine choices. These will include a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated option and a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit. The former is said to deliver 82 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox.
Meanwhile, the more performance-oriented 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is expected to generate a power output of 118 bhp with 172 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed clutchless manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
If the Clavis is positioned between the Kia Sonet Facelift and the Seltos Facelift, it may also provide a diesel engine option. However, in case the vehicle is slotted below the Sonet then it might exclusively offer petrol engines.
