Mahindra Vision S SUV launch expected in 2027 New sub-4m SUV could get petrol, diesel and EV options Rugged styling and panoramic sunroof likely on offer
Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch a rugged sub-4m SUV based in the Vision S concept, which was showcased last year. The model is currently undergoing testing and has been spotted multiple times with heavy camouflage.
The production-ready Mahindra Vision S is expected to debut in late 2026, followed by market launch in early 2027. In terms of pricing and positioning, it will directly rival the upcoming Renault Bridger and Tata Scarlet, which are due for 2027.
Here’re 5 key details we know so far about the upcoming Mahindra Vision S.
The Vision S will be the first production model to be designed on Mahindra’s NU_IQ monocoque modular platform. This architecture supports both FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems and ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV powertrains. Interestingly, the platform will offer a flat floor design for both ICE and EV models and the electric variants could feature a rear-mounted electric motor.
Mahindra has confirmed that the SUVs based on the NU_IQ platform will have ground clearance of up to 227mm. This new architecture is also expected to make the future Mahindra subcompact and compact SUVs more spacious, lighter and faster than their predecessors.

The production version of the Mahindra Vision S is likely to join the rugged Mahindra Scorpio family.
The final model is likely to stay true to the concept, featuring a distinctive grille with Twin Peaks logo and a triplet of vertically stacked LEDs on either side, inverted L-shaped headlamps, sporty bumper and pixel-shaped fog lamps. However, some concept elements such as roof-mounted auxiliary lights and limb risers on the bonnet might not make it to the production model.
Spy images suggest that the Mahindra Vision S will come equipped with a panoramic sunroof along with a touchscreen infotainment system, adjustable headrests, a rear-centre armrest, three-point seatbelts for all occupants and cruise control.
Since the NU_IQ platform supports multiple powertrains, this Vision S is expected to be offered with petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric options. The diesel version could feature Mahindra’s proven 1.5L, four-cylinder engine, which currently powers the Mahindra XUV 3XO. This motor generates a maximum power of 117bhp and 300Nm of torque.
