The second-generation Kia Seltos is currently in final phase of its testing in India as well as on foreign soil. The SUV has recently been caught testing with production-ready body panels, hinting at a closer debut. A new spy image from the United States of America reveals its side profile. The new shape of the new-gen Seltos definitely looks bigger and more muscular than before.
The new-gen Kia Seltos will receive a significant design overhaul that makes it look bigger and more aggressive. It has a boxy and rugged design, which is inspired by the flagship Telluride. The boxy shape and muscular design elements contribute to a much larger visual presence than the current model.
The new-gen Kia Seltos has a flatter bonnet, and a flat front profile with a two-part grille. On a closer look, it is visible that the SUV gets a Telluride-like wider grille and squared-shaped headlamps with orange colour DRLs. There is a flatter roof, straight lines and thick cladding around wheel arches, while the larger glass areas and body-coloured B and C-pillars complemented the overall design.
The SUV gets an all-new tailgate design and a relatively squarish profile, housing a Telluride-like LED tail-lights. Other design highlights include a roof-integrated spoiler, shark fin antenna and a rugged lower bumper with aggressive black cladding.
Kia has officially announced that the new-gen Seltos will come with a hybrid powertrain. However, the India-spec model will first come with regular petrol and diesel engine options in 2026. The Seltos hybrid will only arrive in 2027.
The global-spec model will come with a 1.6-litre GDR hybrid unit with an e-AWD option. The India-spec model will have a different powertrain, which could utilise the 1.5L, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine. The regular engine options will include a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic (diesel), a CVT with 1.5L NA petrol and a 7-speed DCT with a turbo petrol.
