India’s top car manufacturers, Tata Motors, Hyundai and Mahindra are preparing a wide range of new SUVs. These three brands will launch multiple new SUVs in both ICE and EV avatars. In the next 6 months, Tata Motors will launch multiple new models, including the Sierra, Punch facelift, and the Harrier & Safari petrol.
On the other hand, Mahindra will introduce 2 new EVs and facelifts of existing SUVs. Hyundai plans to introduce the new-gen Venue in the coming months. Here’s look at the next big launches from Tata, Hyundai and Mahindra.
Tata Motors is all set to re-launch the Sierra nameplate in the new avatar in India. The lifestyle SUV will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrains, and later will arrive first in October-November 2025. The ICE-powered Tata Sierra will launch in the first quarter of 2026, most probably in January.
The SUV will be the first Tata to feature triple screen dashboard layout, featuring a central infotainment unit, a digital instrument panel and a co-occupant entertainment screen. It will come equipped with automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, HUD, LEVEL 2 ADAS, front and rear parking sensors and others.
The Sierra EV is expected to share the battery packs with the Harrier EV, which is available with 65kWh and 75kWh batteries. It will be a front-wheel-drive model and expected to offer a realistic range of around 500km. The ICE version is likely to come with 3 powertrains - a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel.
The second generation Hyundai Venue is set to launch in November 2025. It will come with significant design changes, though the boxy shape will remain intact. The cabin will witness majority of the changes, as it will get all-new dashboard layout and a longer list of comfort and convenience features.
It will come with a dual 10.2-inch curvilinear screen set-up - an infotainment unit and an instrument console. The screen seems identical to the ones available in the higher-spec Hyundai Creta and Alcazar. In terms of features, the SUV will have a 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rain sensing wipers, etc.
The SUV is also expected to receive LEVEL 2 ADAS system, and front parking sensors. It will be offered with the same set of engines - a 1.2L NA petrol with manual gearbox, a 1.0L turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT or 6MT and a 1.5L diesel with 6MT. The diesel version could also get an automatic option.
Mahindra will launch the long-awaited 3-row electric SUV, rumoured to be called the XEV 7e or XUV700 electric in the first quarter of 2026. It will be based on Mahindra’s new INGLO Born-electric platform that also underpins the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e electric coupe SUVs.
It will be a full-sized 7-seater electric SUV targeting family buyers. The XEV 7e will share the platform, powertrains, features and design language with the Mahindra XEV 9e. The electric SUV will be offered with 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery pack options. It will also come with a dual-motor AWD set-up.
The new Mahindra XEV 7e will come equipped with a triple screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch central infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment unit. In terms of features, the electric SUV will have two-spoke steering wheel, captain seats, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, Augmented reality HUD, auto park assist, LEVEL 2 ADAS and others.
