Maruti Suzuki recently launched the new Victoris, generating a lot of excitement in the compact SUV segment. Priced from Rs 10.50 lakh, the 2025 Maruti Victoris brings many standout features to the table. Among them, the Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite steals the spotlight, marking Victoris as the first Maruti car to offer such technology.
But there’s a catch; Maruti Victoris ADAS is only available in select petrol variants, leaving hybrid enthusiasts wondering if the SUV truly lives up to its potential.
Note: Deliveries of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris are set to commence across India on September 22
If you are hoping for ADAS in a hybrid Victoris, you might be disappointed. Only the 1.5-litre smart hybrid petrol variants with 6AT transmission offer ADAS. Manual petrol, CNG, and even the strong hybrid variants of Maruti Victoris do not include it. The reasoning seems practical - including ADAS in high-end hybrids could push the Maruti Victoris price beyond Rs 19 lakh, potentially making it less competitive against rivals like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate.
Even without ADAS in all models, the Maruti Victoris shines in safety. Its Level 2 ADAS package features Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitor with Lane Change Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Other features like High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Vehicle Sway Warning add to its safety profile.
Additionally, Maruti Victoris boasts 5-star ratings in both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP crash tests. Standard safety features include six airbags, ESP, traction control (TCS), engine drag control (EDC), hill hold and descent assist, 360-degree HD cameras, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, and tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS).
The most accessible Maruti Victoris ADAS variant is the ZXi+ AT 2WD, priced at Rs 17.19 lakh. The ZXi+ (O) AT 2WD comes at Rs 17.77 lakh, while the ZXi+ (O) AT 4WD AllGrip variant with ADAS costs Rs 19.22 lakh. By comparison, rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate also offer ADAS but often at higher prices.
The new Victoris offers a compelling mix of features, safety, and comfort. However, the lack of ADAS in hybrid variants could be a deciding factor for tech-savvy buyers. For those prioritizing affordability and essential safety, the entry-level petrol variants remain attractive. On the other hand, buyers who specifically want advanced driver assistance may need to opt for the higher-priced automatic petrol variants.
In conclusion, while the Maruti Victoris is a strong contender in the compact SUV segment, the limited rollout of ADAS in hybrid models may influence purchase decisions. It remains to be seen whether Maruti will extend this feature to hybrid variants in the future.
