The next 30 days are set to witness four high-profile car launches - scheduled between mid-August and early September 2026. Mahindra hasn’t reveal its upcoming SUVs for the Independence Day 2026; however, 4 brands, including Skoda, JSW MG Motor India, BMW and Kia are set to introduce exciting products. From refreshed mid-size sedans and long-wheelbase luxury SUVs to high-efficiency plug-in hybrids and 3-row SUV, car buyers have plenty to look forward to.
Here is a quick breakdown of the Top 4 Cars launching over the next 30 days:
Launch Date: August 18, 2026
Competition - Honda City, Hyundai Verna and VW Virtus
Key Highlights: Revised front grille, new 8-speed AT, rear seat massager
Skoda India will give its popular mid-size sedan, the Slavia a mid-life update. The updated model brings in sharper exterior profile, featuring redesigned LED Headlamps, updated bumpers, new alloy wheel designs and revised grille. Inside the cabin, the sedan will have an upgraded digital driver display along with a massage function for the rear seat occupants.
The big upgrade will come in the form of a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, TSI engine. This 8-speed AT unit will replace the older 6-speed unit for smoother shifts and improved fuel efficiency. The 1.5L TSI continues with its signature 7-speed DSG.

BMW India will launch the Long Wheelbase Version of the X1 SUV on August 21, 2026. The SUV will be locally assembled, which will allow BMW to price it competitively. The BMW X1 LWB measures 4616mm in length, 1845mm wide and 1641mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2802mm, making it 116mm longer and 11mm taller than its standard wheelbase (SWB) variant. The wheelbase is 110mm longer than the regular model.
The SUV will be equipped with a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless charging pad, electrically adjustable front seats, a powered tailgate, a Harman Kardon sound system, connected car tech, auto park assist and more. It is likely to get a 1.5L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 154bhp and 230Nm, paired to a 7-speed DCT. The diesel version will retain the 2.0L turbo unit.

JSW MG Motor India will launch an all-new SUV, rumoured to be called the MG Hector Hawk on August 26. It is likely to be the Indianised version of the Wuling Starlight 560 on sale in global markets. It will be positioned above the Hector, and will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the XEV 9S. The SUV will be offered with both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains.
The Hector Hawk PHEV powertrain will feature a 1.5L petrol engine, an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. It offers a combined power and torque output of 194bhp and 230Nm, respectively. The SUV offers a pure electric range of 125km and a total range of 1100km (including the 52-litre fuel tank), as per the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). The electric version is expected to be packed with a 69.2 kWh battery pack mated to a front-axle-mounted electric motor, which offers 201hp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a range of 530km (CLTC) on a single charge.

The new Kia Sorento 3-row SUV will be introduced on September 4, 2026. Interested customers can book the new Sorento online or at authorised dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. The new model will be locally assembled (CKD), and will be Kia’s first Strong Hybrid powertrain to India.
The new Sorento 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid and a proven 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine. It will come in 6- and 7-seat layouts with former having captain seats in the second-row. In terms of features, the SUV will feature twin 12.3-inch curved screens, a Bose audio system, terrain drive modes, and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
