The Korean automaker, Kia, will introduce the next-gen Carnival and EV9 electric SUV in the Indian market on October 3, 2024. In fact, select Kia dealers have started accepting pre-orders for the new Carnival MPV. The new 3-row MPV will initially be offered as a fully imported/CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit), while local assembly could commence at a later stage.
The new model will come as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross or the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. It will be offered as a completely built-up unit or a CBU. The new Kia Carnival is expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh. It won't have a direct rival in our market, as the Hycross costs around Rs 30 lakh.
The new-gen Kia Carnival will be powered by a single 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine, which was available in the previous generation model. The powertrain churns out a maximum power output of 200bhp and a peak torque of 440Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by an 8-speed 'Sportsmatic' automatic gearbox.
In the international markets, the new Carnival is offered with 3 engine options - a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel.
