New Kia Seltos hybrid spotted in South Korea It will get a hybrid engine based on the 1.5L NA petrol engine
The Korean automaker, Kia had announced that the new Seltos will receive a hybrid powertrain, and the same will also arrive in our market. The exact launch date for the new Kia Seltos hybrid is yet to be revealed, but our sources confirmed that it will launch in 2027. While the global-spec model will get a more powerful hybrid system with 1.6L petrol engine, the India-bound model is likely to get a hybrid engine based on 1.5L, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine.
The new 1.5L strong hybrid engine is likely to use two electric motors and a small battery pack. The same hybrid powertrain is also expected to be offered with the upcoming Kia Sorento 7-seater SUV, which is scheduled to be launched before the end of next financial year. It will also power the next-gen Hyundai Creta, which will arrive before the Seltos hybrid.

The new Kia Seltos hybrid fully revealed in clearest spy images from South Korea. It looks similar to the US-spec ICE-powered Seltos, but it features an HEV badge on the tailgate. The global-spec model is powered by a 1.6L petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox, offering a max power and torque output of 141PS and 246Nm, respectively.
The Korean duo planning to heavily localise the new hybrid powertrain to achieve competitive pricing. It will directly rival the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid and the upcoming Renault Duster hybrid.

The Korean brand will launch two new SUVs, the Syros EV and the Sorento 7-seater hybrid in the country by the end of next financial year. The new Sorento will be manufactured at the brand’s Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, and will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
The Kia Syros EV is expected to be launched by mid-2026, most probably around June-July. Estimated to be priced around Rs 14 lakh and Rs 18 lakh, the Syros electric will rival the likes of the MG Windsor EV, Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. It is likely to be offered with two battery choices -42kWh and 49kWh. The electric SUV to offer a certified range of up to 400Km on a single charge.
