Renault India will launch the third generation Duster SUV in the country before the end of this financial year. While India launch timeline is yet to be announced, Renault has introduced the new-gen Duster SUV in South Africa.

The new-gen Duster for the South African market is available in 3 variants - 1.3L Turbo Zen EDC 4x2, 1.3L Turbo Intens EDC 4x2 and 1.2 Turbo Zen 4WD MHEV. The entry-level variant is priced at R 489999 (INR 23.36 lakh), the mild hybrid unit is tagged at R 549999 (INR 26.09 lakh).
In India, Renault would aim to price the new Duster more competitively. We expect the new Duster to cost somewhere between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new-gen Duster SUV for the African market gets a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is also likely to power the India-spec model. This engine is capable of producing 151bhp between 4800-5000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1700rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) automatic gearbox. It is claimed to offer a certified fuel economy of 15.38kmpl (WLTP Cycle).
The next-gen Renault Duster also gets a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid tech. This powertrain offers 129bhp of power and 230Nm of peak torque. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to all-4 wheels comes as standard. This model is claimed to offer a driving range of up to 850km and a fuel efficiency of 17.54 kmpl (WLTP Cycle).
The 4WD version has a high ground clearance of 217mm and an approach angle of up to 31 degree. It has 4WD terrain control with 5 modes - Auto, Eco, Mud & Sand, Snow and Off-Road.
The third generation Renault Duster comes with driving assistance system including, a 360 degree surround view camera, rear parking assistance, blind spot detection, cruise control speed limiter, hill descent control and hill start assist system. It has paddle shifters, front, side and rear sensors, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 7-inch digital instrument console, wireless charging, and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. The ADAS tech offers autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, traffic sign recognition and others.
The new-gen Duster SUV is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2026, most probably in January. The company is also preparing a new 3-row SUV based on the Duster. It is most likely to be called the Renault Bigster.
While new Duster specifications for India are yet to be revealed, we believe the SUV will share its engine options with the South African model. A 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine with higher power and torque is expected to be offered in the India-spec model. Renault could also opt for the 1.2L turbo petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech, as this model also gets a provision of 4WD setup.
