The long-awaited Tata Sierra lifestyle SUV is getting closer to its official launch. The production-ready model has been spotted testing on multiple occasions, revealing key design and interior details. The SUV has recently been snapped at a fuel station, which confirms that Tata has started testing the ICE-powered Sierra.
The new Sierra will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV and will measure around 4.3 meters in length. This SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and others in the mid-sized SUV category. Its EV avatar will challenge the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.
Tata Sierra ICE version is expected to carry an aggressive price tag. We expect the SUV to cost somewhere between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. The Sierra EV is likely to cost around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 24 lakh.

The latest spy images confirm that the SUV will come with a petrol engine. The Tata Sierra is expected to be offered with two all-new petrol engines - a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged.
The turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing 170hp at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 280Nm between 2,000-3,500rpm. The NA petrol engine is expected to be offered on the lower-spec variants. Both powertrains will be compliant with the E20 fuel.
The diesel version is likely to get the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo unit that powers the Harrier and Safari. While powering the Safari/Harrier, this engine produces 170hp and 350Nm. Tata Motors has acquired the license of manufacturing this engine from Fiat. The engine could see different state of tuning with the Sierra SUV. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
The Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev+ architecture that underpins the Curvv EV. It is expected to borrow the 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs from the Harrier EV. The Harrier EV is a rear-wheel-drive SUV with an optional AWD setup in the top-spec model. The Sierra EV will be a front-wheel-drive SUV with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It is also likely to get a dual-motor AWD setup, called the QWD (quad-wheel drive) systems. Expect the new SUV to offer multiple terrain modes, including Mud Ruts, Sand, Snow, Rock Crawl and others.
