Tata Altroz Racer made its debut at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. Recently, the vehicle was spotted with emission testing equipment. It is believed that the automaker is revamping its 1.2-litre petrol engine and introducing a new 1.5-litre unit option for enhanced performance. A larger touchscreen and a sunroof could also be provided on the upcoming Altroz Racer.
The spy images suggest there will be hardly any changes on the outside, and even the alloy wheel design looks the same. However, the company plans to make the performance edition stand out by offering a black roof, blackened wheels, and a black bonnet with white stripes.
On the inside, it is expected to come fitted with a new 10.2-inch screen for infotainment. This screen will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. However, some features from the newer models like the 10.2-inch instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel, and toggle-style climate control panel might not be included in this version. On the bright side, it is likely to get a single-pane sunroof.
Altroz Racer is believed to be equipped with Tata's latest 1.2 TGDI engine. This will provide superior performance compared to the currently available Altroz i-Turbo in India. In addition, the brand is developing a completely new 1.5-litre petrol engine. Talking about the power output, the bigger unit is said to deliver 125 bhp with 225 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options could include a 7-speed DCT and a manual gearbox.
Tata Altroz Racer is expected to be priced lower than the Hyundai i20 N Line. The price could range between Rs. 9.5 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
