Tata Motors introduced one of its major offerings of the year – the Curvv SUV-coupe with electric and ICE (internal combustion engine) powertrain options. The Curvv EV, launched in August, is priced between ₹17.49 lakh and ₹21.99 lakh. Its ICE counterpart, on the other hand, debuted in September at an aggressive starting price of ₹10 lakh. Within two months of its launch, the Curvv registered total sales of 13,569 units, including 3,455 units in August, 4,763 units in September, and 5,351 units in October 2024.
Aiming to further boost its sales performance, the indigenous automaker plans to add more variants to the Curvv model lineup (including both ICE and electric versions). While details of the upcoming variants are not available at this point, they are likely to include CNG variants or Dark Edition. CNG (compressed natural gas) fuel is gaining popularity among Indian car buyers, as evidenced by the fact that CNG vehicles recorded a year-on-year (YoY) sales growth of 46 percent between January and August. In fact, CNG sales have outnumbered those of petrol hybrids, diesel hybrids, and electric vehicles.
Reports further suggest that the Tata Curvv could receive a Dark Edition similar to the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari SUVs. Tata’s Dark Editions enjoy strong market demand, thanks to their sporty black styling inside and out. These editions feature an all-black color scheme, ‘Dark Edition’ badging on the exterior, and an all-black interior theme with branded stitching on the headrests.
At present, the Tata Curvv (ICE) is available in 34 variants and three engine options: a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine (120bhp/170Nm), a 1.2L direct-injection turbo petrol engine (125bhp/225Nm), and a 1.5L diesel engine (118bhp). The Curvv EV is offered with 40.5kWh and 55kWh battery packs, providing a claimed MIDC range of 502km and 585km, respectively. While the former is available in the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ trims, the latter is offered in the Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A trims.
