Tata Motors officially launches the Harrier EV in India at an introductory price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings will open on July 2. With this release, Tata expands its all-electric lineup to six models, reaffirming its leadership in the domestic EV segment.
The Harrier EV retains the bold design language of its ICE counterpart while incorporating EV-specific updates. The front grille closes off for better aerodynamics, accompanied by redesigned bumpers, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and distinctive ‘EV’ badges that underline its electric identity. These cosmetic changes not only improve efficiency but also give the SUV a modern and futuristic appearance.
The highlight of the Harrier EV is its Gen 2 Acti.ev platform, designed to support a wide range of future-ready technologies. This architecture allows for a more rigid structure, improved driving dynamics, and scalable battery and powertrain options. The Harrier EV offers all-wheel drive capabilities with a dual-motor setup and generates up to 500 Nm of torque.
Inside, the Harrier EV offers a tech-forward cabin that mirrors the ICE model’s layout but includes EV-specific details.
The SUV comes with a large 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The display in the Harrier EV is developed by Harman and powered by Samsung Neo QLED technology, making it the world’s first Neo QLED screen used in an automotive setting.
It also has a ‘Boss Mode’ that lets the rear seat passenger move the front passenger seat forward to create more space. Other highlights include Dolby Atmos, JBL, AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System), and first in segment UPI based in car payment solution.
Tata Motors equips the Harrier EV with a long list of safety and convenience features to match its premium positioning. The Harrier EV can park itself and be called to your location in a parking lot using the key — a cool feature. The SUV offers Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a powered tailgate. Additional highlights include a panoramic sunroof and connected car technology.
Tata Harrier EV comes with two battery options: a 65 kWh pack and a 75 kWh pack. It has an ARAI-tested MIDC range of 627 km, while its real-world range is between 480 and 525 km, depending on driving conditions.
The Harrier EV offers fast and flexible charging options. It charges from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes and provides up to 250 km of range with only 15 minutes of fast charging. The SUV supports multiple charging methods, including 120 kW DC fast charging, a 7.2 kW home charger, and a 3.3 kW portable charger that can be used anywhere.
It also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing you to power external devices with up to 3.3 kW. Additionally, it offers vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, providing up to 5 kW to charge another EV.
The Harrier EV marks the beginning of Tata’s next-generation electric vehicle portfolio, which will soon be joined by the Sierra EV and the premium Avinya EV. These launches follow a drop in Tata’s EV sales in FY25, which fell by nearly 10% due to a dip in fleet demand and the conclusion of the FAME II subsidy. With new platforms and products, Tata aims to bounce back stronger in the evolving EV landscape.
