Tata Motors joined the bandwagon with other OEMs like Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG to offer ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) on its flagship offerings last year. The Harrier and Safari SUVs, which already come with 11 ADAS features, now get two additional features – adaptive steering assist with lane centering and lane-keeping assist.
The adaptive steering assist with lane centering continuously keeps the vehicle in its lane and enhances safety. It uses a multipurpose camera to detect lane boundaries and determine the vehicle’s position within its lane. The lane-keeping assist system enables the driver to stay in the lane by monitoring the vehicle’s position and adjusting the steering or brakes.
The Tata Harrier and Safari’s ADAS suite already offers safety features such as rear collision warning, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, door open alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane change alert, high beam assist, and traffic sign recognition.
Besides updating the ADAS suite, Tata has introduced new colors across different trims of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. Now, the Harrier’s Smart and Pure trims are available in Coral Red and Pebble Grey color schemes, along with the Lunar White and Ash Grey shades. The Adventure and Fearless trims receive the new Ash Grey paint scheme, while the top-end Fearless trim gets Seaweed Green.
The Tata Safari’s Smart and Pure trims are now offered in Galactic Sapphire and Stardust Ash. The Adventure and Accomplished variants are available in the new Lunar Slate paint scheme, while the Supernova Copper color is exclusively offered on the top-end Accomplished trim.
Both these SUVs continue to be powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The engine delivers a claimed power output of 170PS and 350Nm of torque. Currently, the Tata Harrier model lineup is priced between ₹14.99 lakh and ₹25.89 lakh, while the Safari costs between ₹15.49 lakh and ₹26.79 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
