Tesla is inching closer to its highly anticipated debut in India, and the latest sighting of the Model Y in Mumbai suggests that launch preparations are progressing steadily. As testing continues, the Model Y is expected to be Tesla’s first electric vehicle for the Indian market.

The India-spec Tesla Model Y features a futuristic design with streamlined LED headlights and a clean, modern rear profile that includes connected tail lamps. Its overall appearance is aerodynamic and urban-focused, fitting well within the growing EV landscape of Indian cities.
The SUV will be offered in multiple eye-catching colour options, such as Pearl White, Stealth Grey, Deep Blue Metallic, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Diamond Black. These colours are expected to enhance its premium appeal among Indian EV buyers.
Inside the cabin, the Model Y continues Tesla’s signature minimalist approach. Buyers will be able to choose between two interior colour themes—classic all-black or a sophisticated white. The EV comes equipped with heated and ventilated powered seats, a 15-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen display for rear passengers, offering a luxurious in-cabin experience.
The Tesla Model Y for India is expected to be offered in a single all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant powered by a long-range battery pack. It promises an EPA-rated range of 526 kilometres on a single charge. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 200 km/h, making it both practical and exciting to drive.
Tesla’s reputation for cutting-edge safety continues with the Model Y. The SUV will include a host of safety technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Avoidance, and Blind Spot Collision Warning. Additionally, eight external cameras support Tesla’s semi-autonomous driving system, ensuring safer commutes for Indian buyers.
Reports suggest Tesla has finalized dealership locations in Mumbai and Delhi. These cities will likely be the starting points for sales and service operations in India. While the company has not yet announced whether local manufacturing is on the cards, the testing and dealer groundwork indicate that Tesla’s India entry is imminent.
