The Indian auto market is rapidly moving toward hybrid technology, with several strong hybrid and HEV models set to launch over the next two years. From mid-size SUVs to fuel-efficient hatchbacks, automakers are bringing exciting options for those looking for efficiency, performance, and practicality. Here’s a look at the top 10 upcoming hybrid cars in India for 2026-2027.
Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 will arrive in India around Diwali 2026, following the launch of petrol variants. The Renault Duster Hybrid India model uses a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with a 1.4kWh battery, producing 160hp. It will compete directly with Maruti Grand Vitara rival hybrids and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder rival hybrid SUVs, offering up to 80% electric-only driving in city conditions.

Nissan Tekton Hybrid India model is expected to debut in late 2026. The strong-hybrid variant may feature a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with a 1.4kWh battery, producing around 160hp. This mid-size hybrid SUV will offer a premium alternative for buyers looking for Toyota Hyryder rival hybrid SUVs and Maruti Grand Vitara rival hybrids.
Honda Elevate Hybrid India is likely to launch in the second half of 2026. It will feature a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with a localized hybrid system. Fuel efficiency is expected to be 26-27 kmpl. Positioned as a mid-size hybrid SUV, the Honda Elevate Hybrid launch 2026 aims to attract families looking for practical and efficient hybrid SUVs in India.
Kia Seltos Hybrid India variant is expected by late 2026 or early 2027. This strong-hybrid SUV will use a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor. Kia is focusing on local production of hybrid components to offer competitive pricing while rivaling Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid models and Toyota Hyryder rival hybrid SUVs.
Honda ZR-V Hybrid launch India is expected by late 2026. This premium, fully-imported SUV will feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors, producing around 181-184hp. The Honda ZR-V Hybrid India price is expected between Rs 50-60 lakh, positioning it in the premium segment for buyers seeking performance and technology.
Honda CR-V Hybrid India 2026 is expected around late 2026 or early 2027. The sixth-gen CR-V will feature a 2.0-litre e:HEV strong-hybrid system producing 184hp and 335Nm. The SUV will compete with premium models while offering advanced dual-motor hybrid technology and efficient fuel consumption.
Hyundai Creta Hybrid will launch in early 2027 alongside the third-generation SX3 model. The mid-size SUV will feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a self-charging strong-hybrid system, producing 115-120hp and an estimated 22-25 kmpl mileage. Competing with Maruti Grand Vitara rival hybrids and Toyota Hyryder rival hybrid SUVs, the Creta Hybrid India price could range between Rs 18-21 lakh.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid is set to debut in early 2027 and will introduce Maruti’s in-house HEV series hybrid technology. The 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine acts as a generator to charge a battery that powers the electric motor. With fuel efficiency over 35 kmpl and a price range of Rs 12-15 lakh, it will bridge the gap between mild-hybrids and strong hybrids in India.
The Swift Hybrid is expected by late 2027, using the same HEV series hybrid system as the Fronx. The 1.2-litre Z-Series engine paired with an electric motor targets fuel efficiency of 35-40 kmpl. With competitive pricing between Rs 10-12 lakh, the Swift Hybrid will become one of India’s most efficient hatchbacks.
The Baleno Hybrid will also arrive in late 2027 with the HEV series hybrid system. Its 1.2-litre Z-Series engine powers an electric motor, targeting over 35 kmpl mileage. Estimated pricing between Rs 11-13.5 lakh makes it a strong alternative to the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, offering high efficiency and modern hybrid technology.
