Hyundai Creta Hybrid to rival Grand Vitara and Hyryder. Maruti Fronx, Swift and Baleno hybrids may deliver 35-40 kmpl. Affordable strong hybrid cars launching in India by 2027.
Hybrid cars are quickly becoming the next big trend in India. With rising fuel prices and stricter emission norms, many brands are preparing new strong hybrid cars for the Indian market. From premium 7-seater SUVs to affordable hybrid hatchbacks, the next two years could see a major shift toward fuel-efficient hybrid cars in India.
Here are 4 important hybrid cars expected to launch in 2027.
Hyundai Creta Hybrid is expected to launch in early 2027 alongside the third-generation Creta (codenamed SX3). It will enter the fast-growing strong hybrid SUV segment in India.
The SUV is likely to feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a self-charging strong-hybrid system, producing around 115-120hp. Fuel efficiency could exceed 22-25 kmpl, making it one of the most practical hybrid SUVs in India.
It will compete directly with the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. With local manufacturing of hybrid components, the expected price could range between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 21 lakh.

The Fronx Hybrid is expected to debut in early 2027 and will introduce Maruti’s new HEV series hybrid technology. This setup uses a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-Series engine mainly as a generator.
The engine charges a battery pack, which then powers the electric motor that drives the wheels. This series hybrid system aims to deliver over 35 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in India.
Expected pricing between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh could position it as an affordable strong hybrid car in India.
The Swift Hybrid is likely to arrive by late 2027. It will use the same HEV series hybrid system seen in the Fronx, pairing a 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine with an electric motor.
With a claimed fuel efficiency target of 35-40 kmpl, the Swift Hybrid could become the most fuel-efficient hatchback in India. Local production of hybrid components will help keep prices competitive, likely between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.
The Baleno Hybrid is also expected by late 2027 and will use Maruti’s new HEV series hybrid system. It will use the 1.2-litre Z-Series engine as a generator to power the electric motor.
Mileage is expected to exceed 35 kmpl, offering a major improvement over current petrol versions. The estimated price range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh could make it a strong alternative to the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
