Toyota is making big moves in India with several upcoming Toyota cars lined up for launch in the coming years. The Japanese automaker plans to focus less on Maruti Suzuki-derived models and more on offering premium, the OG Toyota cars. Over the next 2-3 years, Toyota will launch a range of new SUVs and pickup models, including both petrol and electric options. From the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser FJ to the Urban Cruiser EV, there’s a lot to look forward to.
If you’re excited about upcoming Toyota SUVs in India, here’s a glimpse of what’s coming in 2026 and beyond.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, one of the most exciting upcoming Toyota SUVs in India, is expected to launch in the first half of 2026. Based on Suzuki’s e-HEARTECT platform, this electric SUV will rival the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric. The Urban Cruiser EV will be available with two battery options (49kWh and 61kWh) and a range of up to 500 km on a single charge.

The Toyota Fortuner, a flagship SUV, is also due for a next-gen update. Expected to launch globally in 2026, this model will be based on the TNGA-F modular platform. The new Toyota Fortuner will feature a more aggressive design, with a new 2.8L diesel engine and a 2.4L hybrid turbo petrol option. The upcoming Fortuner is set to remain one of the top contenders in the large SUV segment with its rugged off-road capabilities and powerful performance.
The Toyota Hyryder, one of Toyota’s popular SUVs, is set to get a facelift in 2026. This update will include key features like Level-2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and more. The Hyryder facelift will come with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and the option for an underbody CNG tank. It will be powered by a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5L hybrid engine, with no significant mechanical changes.
The new Toyota Hilux, expected to launch globally in mid-2026, will feature updates to both exterior and interior design. The Toyota Hilux 2025 will have a sharper, more muscular exterior with a refined interior, including a digital instrument cluster and an advanced infotainment system. Indian buyers can expect the Hilux to arrive around 2027, offering a more powerful engine and improved off-road capabilities, while retaining the strength and reliability the model is known for.
The iconic Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will make its way to India in 2028, offering a smaller, more compact option in the Land Cruiser family. Built on the IMV platform that also supports models like the Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta, this rugged SUV is expected to come with petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid engine options. With a 2.7L petrol engine, the Land Cruiser FJ will deliver 163hp and 246Nm of torque, making it a formidable competitor in the off-road segment.
Alongside the Land Cruiser FJ, Toyota is also preparing a more compact pickup truck for India. While details are still scarce, the compact Toyota pickup truck is expected to be based on the Toyota Hilux Champ. This smaller pickup truck could hit the Indian market in 2028 and is expected to be locally manufactured at Toyota’s upcoming plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
