Toyota Officially Announced New Factory in Maharashtra; New SUV Confirmed
Toyota announces new manufacturing unit in the Bidkin Industrial Area, Maharashtra, India Production to begin in 2029 An all-new SUV will be manufactured at the plant
Toyota Kirloskar Motor announces its plans of building a new vehicle manufacturing plant in the Bidkin Industrial Area, Maharashtra, India. The company has officially announced that the production of vehicles at this facility will commence in the first half of 2029. Toyota claims that the new facility is “aimed to strengthen Toyota’s business foundation in the Indian market.”
The new manufacturing facility will be used to deliver vehicles in the domestic market as well as international markets. This new plant will have a production capacity of 1 lakh vehicles per year, and will employee approximately 2,800 people. Toyota has also confirmed that an all-new SUV will be the first model to be produced at the new manufacturing facility.
Previous media reports suggest that Toyota will launch the Corolla Cross based SUV in the Indian market by 2028-29. This could be the first model to be produced at this plant. Moreover, Toyota will also introduce the Land Cruiser FJ in the country by 2028.
In an statement, Toyota said, “With deep appreciation, Toyota will continue strengthening its production structure to enable flexible response to future demand growth and market changes in India and surrounding regions, and to deliver products in a timely manner that customers choose.”
