Toyota Corolla Cross Confirmed For India – Hybrid SUV, ADAS & More

Toyota Corolla Cross India launch expected by late 2028 or 2029. 2.0L petrol and hybrid powertrains with advance features and ADAS.

Toyota plans to expand its Indian product portfolio with multiple new SUVs and MPVs, while continuing to follow a multi-powertrain strategy. Additionally, the Japanese automaker will set up two new manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Bengaluru.

In May 2026, Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced its plan to built a new vehicle production facility in the Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA), Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The new plant will be operational in the second half of 2029, and the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross will be the first model to roll off its production line. However, the SUV is expected to launch in late 2028 or early 2029.

Toyota Corolla Cross SUV For India – What To Expect?

Internally known as 340D, the new Toyota C-segment SUV will be designed on the TNGA-C platform, which also underpins the Innova Hycross. In global markets, the Corolla Cross is offered with two engine options – a 2.0L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and a 2.0L strong hybrid.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 171PS and 205Nm of torque. It comes with a CVT automatic transmission and FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The strong hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0L petrol engine and an electric motor, producing a combined power of 196bhp. It’s available with an e-CVT gearbox and Electronic On-demand AWD.

Dimensionally, the Toyota Corolla Cross measures 4,460mm in length, 1,825mm in width and 1,620mm height while sitting on a wheelbase of 2,640mm. The SUV offers a ground clearance of 200mm (depending on the market) and a boot space of 440-litres. Visually, the Corolla Cross looks sporty with slim LED headlamps and DRLs, new grille, sharply designed bumpers, black wheel arch cladding, roof rails, new alloy wheels and LED taillamps.
