Toyota Kirloskar Motors is preparing for the debut of its latest vehicle, the Taisor. It is scheduled for release tomorrow the 3rd of April. Expected to be based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the Japanese automaker recently gave a sneak peek of the upcoming vehicle on its social media platforms. Let’s take a closer look.
The teaser offers insight into several visual elements of the Taisor. Notably, features such as the honeycomb mesh grille, sleek LED DRLs, and bi-LED projector headlights closely resemble those of the Fronx. Besides, the front and rear bumpers, bonnet scoop, tailgate, and overall silhouette mirror those of the Fronx. However, the taillights exhibit a distinctive touch with a connected LED strip in the middle.
Given that Maruti Suzuki will manufacture the Taisor, it is highly possible that it will share the same interior layout and feature set as the Fronx. This might include a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, Heads Up Display, connected technology, automatic climate control, and Arkamys music system.
On the safety features, the vehicle is expected to provide 6 airbags, hill-hold assist control, three-point seat belts, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and ESP as standard.
Similar to the Fronx, the Taisor is likely to offer both a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine would deliver 88 bhp of power with 113 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT. Based on Fronx's ARAI figures, the Taisor manual should achieve around 21.79 kmpl, while the AMT should reach 22.89 kmpl.
The 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol unit is expected to produce 99 bhp and 147 Nm torque. Transmission options would include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter with paddle shifters. The manual variant should offer a mileage of around 21.5 kmpl, and the automatic around 20.01 kmpl.
Talking about the price, Maruti Suzuki Fronx starts at Rs 7.46 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 12.97 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect that for the Taisor's entry-level variant, the prices could go higher than the Fronx.
